What do you have?
Did you know that over two billion people in the world live on less than $2 per day; and 1.1 billion of them live on less than $1 per day. Few have ever received more than a high school education. Many cannot even read. Several will die because they do not have basic medical care. In fact, there are over one billion people who are undernourished. Worse, there are over 1.4 billion people on our planet with no access to safe drinking water. Today alone, almost 9,500 people will die from hunger.
I think it is extremely easy to focus on what we don't have and forget about what we do. In truth, many of us have more than we realize. We are wealthy in the eyes of the world economy. The mere fact that we have the resources to be on the Internet right now rather than living in a cardboard box and eating garbage to survive is saying something. Furthermore, many of us enjoy freedom in our countries to openly pray and worship without fear of being locked away or worse. We are able to congregate in church each Sunday... We are blessed to be able to read our own translated version of God's Word without worry of death and persecution.
What do you have?
Rather than worry about what you do not have, I encourage you to stop and think about all the blessings you do have? Whenever you find yourself questioning God's provision for your life, please stop to remember the hope we have in our eternal salvation and heed the words of our Savior regarding our needs being met while we are here on earth. Jesus said in Matthew 6, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:25-34)
Ladies, let's thank God for the gracious gifts He continues to give us. Let's share His love to others as He provides for our needs. Let's stop worrying about what we do not have and leave our fears and selfish worries on His altar. Instead, let's seek Him first and share His love to others. We have more than we could ever need because we have LIFE eternal. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. We have blessings beyond measure in the safe care of our Father in heaven. Let's never forget we belong to Him and He is faithful to those that love Him.

Thanks so much for that. That is just what I needed. I am looking for a job at the moment and opportunities to finish my studies, but I have possibilities to do both! My parents are going through a hard time with eachother at the moment so thanks for the reminder that God always provides for our every need. God bless xxx
ReplyDeletewhat a word :)"seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
ReplyDeleteso truthful and wonderful, we have to just focus on the LOrd and His voice, work for His kingdom and fight the good fight, rather than losing time &attention on the little things...
i believe you Christ,it is an honor for me to work for you and be your servant. AMEN.
I thank God for all the many blessings He's stored upon me daily. I know that He has some plans for me that I am truly unaware of and I'm praying that He reveals them in His time and that I am patient until that time comes. I've made some plans that keep getting pushed back. I'm not sure why but I must do some serious meditating to get the answer. Maybe He has something better in store or either I need to push harder. He will reveal it to me I'm sure. Thank you Lord in advance for your answer!
ReplyDeleteHow true this is, what little faith we show when we worry over these things. Let us have more concern for the people who do not know our Lord and Saviour and share Him with every person we meet. Let us live the sermon every moment of our lives. Prasie God for His ceaseless mercy.
ReplyDeleteThat was a GREAT look at/approach to a frequent topic.
