devote, dear vapors

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. (James 4:13-17)

A visible exhalation.
A fog.
A smoke.
A steam, a mist, a gas.
Diffused through air... suspending,
Ah, but vapors do not last.

We rise.
We judge.
We emit and talk,
Acting grandiloquently.
Our pompous, boastful, blusterous thoughts,
Make us think we're more than Thee.

O foolish haze,
So temporary.
Your appearance is short lived.
For life lasts only a little while,
And then it vanishes.

But Jesus - the One who always was,
The One who is... and who'll always be,
His truth is present.
His Word is sharp.
His Way: Eternity.

So release your grasp, and share your storehouses.
Surrender all you think you know.
Devote, dear vapors,
Until your very last breath,
Praise Him all creatures here below.

Come lose your life to find it.
And do not stress in "what if's" or suppose.
Simply love and give Christ to the least of those you meet.
With all your heart, mind, strength.
With all your soul.

Blessings!
