a fragrant offering to the Most High

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Have you ever stood next to a woman whose perfume delicately, beautifully, caught your attention?  Someone who wore just enough of her favorite fragrance to captivate those standing nearby?  Not too little... not to much.

I have.  And, of course, my first instinct is to stand closer to that woman and ask her, “What is that lovely scent you are wearing?”

Ohhhh, if we too would chose to wear the Savior in the same such way.  To simply, delightfully, put on His grace each morning and allow His pleasing aroma to be noticed and enjoyed by those we encounter throughout our day.  How wonderful to be able to share in the goodness of His subtle, underlying magnificence - a fragrance so easily identifiable in every intricate detail of this universe. What an honor He gives us to showcase such truth.  What a privilege we have to wear His signature scent while sharing His Name with all who inquire. What an opportunity to wear His perfect design without overpowering others with our own selfish mandates or souring our surroundings with legalism and lustful desires.  Thanks be to Jesus, who gives us the wardrobe of His Word and the gift of His Spirit so that our sin is lost under His covering.  In Him, we are cleansed from all things distasteful, foul, evil.  With Him, we are able to successfully move forward in His pleasing Way... walking as fresh, new, devoted women perfumed by His sweet love.

Friends, there is nothing more classy than our King.  There is nothing more glorious than humbly wearing the scent of His holiness.  There is nothing more satisfying than inhaling His hope and exhaling His joy to all the earth.  He calls us to share His signature fragrance - His unending love - with everyone we encounter.  Will you clothe yourself in His knowledge and allow yourself to become a fragrant offering to the Most High?

Thank you, blessed Redeemer, for this great honor.  May we each be willing to project your grace and attract others with your aromatic fruits... with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Through us, may YOU be noticed and desired by all we encounter.
